Google announced on Thursday that it’s rebranding its Bard chatbot to Gemini, powered by new artificial intelligence technology. Users can now subscribe to Gemini Advanced for $19.99 per month, which includes access to the more powerful Ultra 1.0 AI model and two terabytes of cloud storage, a value of $9.99 monthly. Soon, subscribers will also have access to Gemini in Gmail and Google’s productivity suite, part of the Google One AI Premium plan. This move intensifies the competition with Microsoft and OpenAI, who also offer paid AI subscriptions.
Gemini Advanced aims to cater to users who seek advanced generative AI technology capable of creating content and handling complex queries. Google plans to leverage its vast base of Android users by offering Gemini as the default digital assistant on Android phones. The rollout will expand internationally, starting with the U.S., followed by Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and other regions, with support for additional languages like Japanese and Korean. Users can enjoy a two-month free trial of Gemini Advanced.
